Linda Norris and I are giving a talk about the Conwy Castle windows next Tuesday, 29th May, at the Swansea School of Glass. There is a small charge of £1.50 which will be donated to this year’s graduating students show fund.
The 45 minute talk will be starting at 2pm in the Round Room in the Alexandra Road Campus of Swansea Metropolitan University. No need to book, just turn up.
(The BA Glass Degree Show will be opening at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea on Saturday 2nd June.)
In a bid to get a better online presence (?) Here is a link to my Flickr photostream. A fledgeling thing but I do love this site and have used it many times myself…great images of all sorts of stuff.
Yesterday I went to a symposium at Strawberry Hill- a house in south east London that is the gothic confection beloved of Horace Walpole- notorious 18th century collector of art, antiquities and all things curious. I’m blogging about it today as I left there at about 5pm and got back to Pembrokeshire at 1am and am only just recovering! A great range of speakers and other participants made for an extremely interesting and enjoyable day. The house has been extensively restored over the past few years and has a fantastic range of renaissance stained glass throughout- lots of birds and the odd cricket and butterfly!
The study day was hosted by the World Monuments Fund Britain who supported the project and I was excited to hear about one of their other projects, which involves the conservation and display of thousands of glass fragments in storage at Coventry Cathedral. It will be fascinating to see the project unfold. Stained glass rocks!

Just been compositing an overall image of our, (Linda Norris and myself, ) windows in Conwy Castle…..the wonders of photoshop! It doesn’t make the windows look any different, it just means I can see them all in one go!
Next stop is to upload information and images onto the main website showing the project as a whole.
